DART Announces Transport Canada Approval of Apical Replacement Emergency Floats for Bell 407
August 28, 2007 - DART Helicopter Services, and their affiliated partner, Apical Industries Inc., a world class leader in emergency floatation and evacuation equipment, have received Transport Canada approval of their Replacement Emergency Floats designed for Bell 407 helicopters. FAA Approval has been previously received and EASA approval is pending.

The Apical Replacement Emergency Floats are available for each of the six OEM float locations (2 forward, 2 middle and 2 aft). The forward and middle floats are assembled with two air-holding chambers and the aft floats are assembled with four air-holding chambers. As an added safety feature, the chambers are separated by bulkheads made from the same urethane nylon as the float tube to minimize the loss of buoyancy in the event of a puncture or tear. Each chamber contains both an inlet check valve for inflation by the cylinder/valve assembly and a combination PRV/Topping valve, which is designed to prevent over inflation and to provide a means for manual inflation.
Weighing the same as the OEM floats and installing in less than an hour, the Apical Replacement Emergency Floats can be utilized in conjunction with Bell or Air Cruiser floats, and do not impose any aircraft limitations. The Apical exchange program is available.
